I hunt with a PSC Deer-Hunter. I haven’t missed yet, and if you are new at bow hunting, it is a good starter bow. I have been bow hunting for about 8 years and I originally hunted with a re-curve bow for the first 4 years and recently switched to a compound bow. The PSC is a compound bow.

Best bang for the buck is an alpine bow. I’ve owned the frontier, and when I decided to step up to a better bow, I bought a silverado. The frontier was about $300, very good started bow (that’s a package price, not just the bow), and the siverado was about $800 (full package). You’ll be hard pressed to find a better bow for the money. I like my silverado better than my buddies dxt mathews and my brothers pse x force 7. They both spent a lot more money than I did too.

* That’s like asking a smoker “what’s the best brand of cigarettes?” Everyone has his preferences.
The best bow is the one you can shoot well. Go to a good archery store and let them fit yuo to the right one. It’s worth the investment.
